No enigne problems this week! John and Don got this thing under control and it's time for the stretch run at Kankakee. Only two Street Stock heats tonight and John starts on the outside of row two for the second heat. He jumps into fourth place right away and gets into a battle with Billy Wicker. He makes the pass on Wicker early by the end of lap one. With only two laps to go, Wicker battles back and takes the third spot putting John in fourth where he'd finish.

Feature time after a long night and John's sitting on the outside of row four. When the first caution comes out on lap one, John is in seventh place. On the restart, John gets by Jake Howard who starts to spin and moves into sixth. A few laps later, Howard and John tangle and John gets the worst of it, but only loses one spot. The caution comes out on lap four and John's still sitting in seventh place. After the third caution of the night, John causes one of his own by spinning in turns one and two on the restart. After starting in back, John gets by Lisa Stirewalt and Tim Hill immediately and eventually works his way back to tenth place. John picks up two more places and finishes 8th.

The engines problems continued, but this week nothing was broke. The team didn't get something put in right and didn't have time to tear it apart and figure out what was wrong. Don McCarty instead gave up his ride for the night and let John continue to battle in the points race.

John started on the inside of row four in heat one. Immediately, John makes a charge to the front, but Ken Bushey spins out and they have to do it all over again. John gets into a three wide battle and trades paint with Matt Nedlock while moving into fourth place where he finished the race.

Feature time and John's lined up on the outside of row five. After one lap, John's in ninth place. On the second lap, John loses a spot to Jake Howard, but almost immediately gets it back. A lot of cars try to hit turn four at the same time and some contact occurs with John and Darrin Kohler. John hangs on to his car and moves it into the sixth position. John then makes his next move on Steve McCarty to take fifth. With just four laps to go, John makes one final pass on Chad Osterhoff to end up in fourth place in a car he's never driven before!

After a late night putting in a new motor, Friday night couldn't have gotten here any faster for the 05 Team. Things started out great in the heat race. John started on the inside of the second row of the second heat. John passed Chris Schoon immediately and jumped into second. John then goes low in turn three and comes out of turn four with the lead over Don McCarty. John stayed there for the next five laps and finished first in the heat.

Things went completely downhill from there. As John was bringing the car on the track for feature race, he put a rod through the oilpan losing the second motor in as many nights. John was scheduled to start on the front row of the feature, but was unable to make the call and finishes in 18th.

Racing action was back underway at Kankakee last night after a week off for the Kankakee County Fair. After a week of work to get the car back in shape, John was ready to get back on the track. The night started in the dash where John finished third ahead of teammate Kevin Lenzen but behind Matt Cleary and winner Darrin Kohler.

In heat race action, John finished third in heat number three behind Don McCarty and Billy Wicker. The heat race finish would put John on the outside of row five beside Matt Cleary.

John was able to pick up a few spots in the feature finishing in eigth place once again ahead of Neil Martin. John was working on Darrin Kohler and hardcharger Mike Cavanaugh when the checkered flag flew. He ran into trouble early in the race when Jake Howard spun out in front of him. John spun to avoid the wreck, but that's not how the flagman saw it and John was put to the back of the line. The race was won by Chad Osterhoff followed by Don McCarty, Steve McCarty and Kevin Lenzen.

With Kankakee taking a night off for the Kankakee County Fair, John loaded up and traveled to Farmer City for the fourth time this year. He had a good run in the heat race finishing fifth which would line him up 13th in the feature event.

John was working his way up through the field in the feature and got as high as ninth on a very dry slick track. A car spun out in front of him and John chose to go high thinking the car would slide down the track. The car ended up stopping right in John's line and John clipped him with the left rim tearing up a tire and bending the axle housing and axle. John had to pull out of the feature at that point and was credited with 20th place.

John's got a little work to do, but he currently working on a new rear end while tearing one apart. He will also be putting new doors, fenders and a nose on the car to finish up the season. He will be back in action this coming Friday night at Kankakee where he currently sits third in the overall point standings.
