Things started well once again for John as he picked up a win against a very tough field of cars in the trophy dash. Following John were Jeff Momper, Jay Hamilton, and Kevin Lenzen. In heat race action, only Mike Cavanaugh had anything for John as those two fought for the lead which Cavanaugh hung on to. John finished second in front of Chad Osterhoff and Jeff Momper. Come feature time, John was sitting in a good position for a top five and that's where he finished. He actually finished sixth behind Matt Cleary, but the first and fourth place cars of Mike Cavanaugh and Chad Osterhoff were disqualified for various reasons bumping John up to fourth place behind new winner Kevin Lenzen and Shannon Shutter.

Rains came and delayed things a little at Kankakee Motor Speedway, but after the action got going, John's car got off to a fast start. Kankakee Police Officers took part in a special street stock race tonight and Officer Netzel piloted John's car eight laps to put it in victory lane!

On to heat race action, John started on the outside of row one. He drops into second place behind Mike Cavanaugh. On turn four of lap two, John and Cavanaugh collide door-to-door and John would come out with the lead. However, this race wasn't over yet. John had the lead as they took the white flag. John goes into turn one and Cavanaugh makes contact on the rear quarterpanel which sends both drivers scrambling to keep control of their cars. Chad Osterhoff took advantage of this golden opportunity and came from third to take the lead. John would hang on and finish the race in second ahead of Cavanaugh and Jay Morris.

The feature had John on the inside of the second row next to Jay Hamilton. John gets into a battle with Don McCarty for fifth place. John loses the spot for the moment, but then overtakes Shannon Shutter for that fifthplace position. John gets into a battle with Mike Cavanaugh again to hang on to that fifth place spot. A caution comes out on lap five and John is still holding strong in the top five. On lap ten, John pulls up on Jay Hamilton's bumper and starts to give him a threat for fifth place. He tries to go under and almost completes the pass one lap later, but Jay hangs on. Another caution comes out with three to go as Cavanaugh slips over the birm. On the restart, Hamilton, John, and McCarty go three-wide, but no one gains any positions. John stays in fifth where he would finish the race behind Hamilton, Chad Osterhoff, McCarty, and Kevin Lenzen

Luck wasn't on John's side to start the night. He drew into the inside of the last row in the fastest heat of the night for the Street Stocks. John begins picking off cars one-by-one to work his way up to the bumper of Royce Bialon for the final transfer spot. With two laps to go, John gets around Bialon and gets Don McCarty in his sight. Time runs out before John can run down McCarty and he finishes fifth behing McCarty, Jay Hamilton, Kevin Lenzen, and Jay Morris.

Come feature time, John has a long road to the front, but gets a great start when he passes six cars before he hits turn three on the first lap. The seventh car in John's way is current points leader Jay Hamilton The caution comes out when Shannon Shutter loses a tire on the front stretch with John sitting in 11th. Unfortunately, John didn't get around the 50 on Don McCarty before the caution, so McCarty is placed between John and Hamilton. John goes to the middle groove on McCarty and gets around to 10th and starts working on Hamilton. John goes low on Hamilton on lap five to get around him for the time being. A lap later, Hamilton comes back on the lowside to take the position back. The two drivers battle for 4 more laps when Don McCarty gets back in the hunt and gets on John's bumper. While racing McCarty for position, Scott Raymond spins out in turns one and two. No caution is thrown and Raymond gets in John's way unintentionally costing him a position. John ends up finishing the night by passing McCarty again and closing in on Kelly Hannan. John ran out of time before he could reach Hannan and finishes in 9th.

John was looking for a big night and a big payday tonight at the Christer Memorial at Kankakee Motor Speedway. The night started out good enough in the dash with John starting on the outside of row two. John slides into second, but not for long as Lenzen takes that away from him in turn four of the first lap. By lap three, John was battling Jeff Momper for the second place position after Lenzen took the lead from Momper. One lap later, John got around Momper and set his sites on Lenze, but with only two laps left, John couldn't get close enough and finish second behind Lenzen.

For the heat race, John started on the outside of row one lined up to Billy Wicker. John drops into second right away and starts working on Billy on the highside. John ends up getting into a battle three wide with Wicker and Shutter and has to lift to avoid an accident and falls back into third place on lap three where he would finish the heat race.

The street stock feature was the first one on the card tonight and John lined up on the inside of row five. On the very first lap, John hit a wet spot on the freshly watered track and it sent John into the backstretch wall. John broke an axle and lost a tire and his night was over before it really had a chance to get started.
